Glen Eira is a mature, virtually fully developed city. It is close to Melbourne's central business district, Port Phillip Bay, the Mornington Peninsula and major retail areas. Land use is predominantly residential with associated retail and services. Glen Eira is a densely populated and culturally very diverse residential area in the inner south-east of Melbourne. Of its residents, 37.4% were born overseas, 30.4% speak a language other than English at home. 50.7% are Christian, 16.6% are Jewish and 15% have a disability. It is home to Caulfield Racecourse and the Caulfield Campus of Monash University.
