very nice school indeed

The day before my son was due to start as we transferred into the area in May, I was phoned an asked to keep my child at home on the first day of my child’s school by the principal because Naplan was on that day, I refused the request. This should of been a very clear warning of what was to come at this school. I observed most days children are often yelled at via the public address system at morning assembly in front of the whole school and sent to the office via the public address system, nearly each and everyday children endure this outmoded self esteem draining practice in front of parents, what a way to start a child’s learning day !
My son having joined the school mid way thru year 3 was placed in a class with children almost 2 years senior to him in some sort of composition class, an consequently suffered unrelenting horrific targeted bulling for a number of years by local children some that were even made prefects by the school, complaints appeared to fall on deaf ears.
Further, the school instead of protecting my son choose instead too uninvitedly an dangerously interfere in my family court matter and put the child at significant risk of potential harm, grossly unprofessional. I noticed a number of families over the years withdrew their children from the school in distress due to the outdated inflexible 1950s style of leadership on offer, many staff are frightened of speaking up for fear of repercussions, before some eventually leave as well.
Promises were made regarding my child’s education that were never kept. Almost impossible for most children to gain access to external PSSA sports programs, because the certain school staff involved play favourites year after year and have very limited teams for such a large school.
No access to class teachers via email is allowed which in 2020 is extraordinary an unproductive.
Parking and drop off adjacent to the school is terrible, very dangerous and disowned an unmanaged by the school. My own child was threatened with physical violence by both children an a man within the school. Both incidents were reported but no action was ever taken.
There needs to be a proper independent enquiry into how this particular school is run, especially with the obvious lack of duty of care provided.

Very good school headed by very old teacher (he was principal when some of the PARENTS attended this school!) - has vast experience in handling kids (and parents!)
Good mix of kids at the school and P&C has a very good president. For a public school, the facilities are good - tennis courts, playgounds, etc and well maintained. After school care is on site, and reasonably well run.
I'm , rate this school
