Can't believe the parents that complain when they can't meet commitments they have committed to then want to blame the teacher. If you can’t make it to the commitment on time and you are upset that your kid had this taken up with them, maybe you should be a better parent and try getting up 15mins earlier and leaving 15mins earlier. It’s your failure as a parent that is creating any of the stress and anxiety, take some responsibility for your actions instead of blaming the people who are being impacted by your parenting (that includes your kid). The teacher is looking after a group of kids, not just your individual kid, can you imagine how much of the day would be waster if everything was dealt with individually instead of a group, give me a break. Maybe the school should hire someone to come and do your duties as parent, school fees are already costly and we certainly don’t need to be paying more to make up for bad parents.
Unfortunately the school is full of these parents who seem to forget it is their responsibility for raising their kids, not the schools. Every parent meeting is full of over-privileged stay at home mums with too little responsibility and nothing better to do than complain about the teaching despite being unable to turn up on time or manage and plan things out and not blame the school when their lack of planning fails them. A little less time spent shopping and bitching about your friends and everyone else who does not bow to your will and some more time doing REAL parenting would go a long way to resolve the majority of issues these bored parents complain about.

The school is great but sometimes the instrumental music program thinks music is more important than education. Taking them out of school to do to a performance for primary school students instead of attending an important science lesson before a exam is not more important than that.

The school is a large school and has some wonderful teachers but some teachers should not be in the teaching profession. The instrumental music program is great however I found that when my children were having problems in attending early morning music rehearsals there was no compassion shown to my children. I found that there was no communication between teacher and parent. In future please take family situations into consideration before making the child feel that they're not trying hard enough to get to rehearsals on time. Well done, you should be proud of yourselves, my children have been discouraged from continuing their music passion in 2014 and beyond. Their self esteem was lowered whenever they arrived late by 5 minutes to 10 minutes where the teacher ridiculed my children in front of the class. Please take into consideration how many stresses there are for a student in high school and every student handles high school pressures in different ways. Please remember as a Teacher, you influence the Student in many ways by your personality, the way you teach and the way you interact with the Teenager and Parent. I truly believe when you see a student struggling with getting to the lesson on time, have a talk with them privately rather than demeaning the student in front of all other students. Also, communicate with the parent in what is causing this problem eg. Anxiety, study stess, family breakdown etc. The list goes on and on and on. When Awards Day came along my children were not chosen for a Certificate all due to lateness caused by family issues or transport issues. NOT FAIR! To think I initially sent my Children to this school because of my kid's enthusiasm towards the strong instrumental program, chamber choir and big choir. I couldn't even get in touch with the Head of The music department because she was always too busy so I had to speak with someone else in the department and they just didn't want to hear my side of the story. Maybe if they were in communication with the Guidance officer or chaplain then maybe the music department could have acknowledged my children's hard work and music practice. The teachers in the other subjects my children were associated with were in communication with myself, guidance officer and chaplain. Thanks for nothing Music Department! You have turned my Children off music forever!
