I've been a student at Hornsby Girls for 3 years now, and my experiences have been excellent so far.
The first thing I noticed when I started attending Hornsby was the high quality teaching in every department. The large majority of teachers share so much enthusiasm with the students, particularly the english staff (excluding Ms Rowe). Most of the teachers are very accepting of students from all walks of life. One particular teacher has been known for refusing to teach homophobic and bigoted students, which I found quite admirable. Unfortunately, this is partially offset by the complete and utter disorganisation. Teachers are often found teaching inconsistent or conflicting information to their classes.
In terms of facilities, I assume it is of an average standard for a public school. The oval is big enough to avoid overcrowding, which is a positive aspect.
My biggest critique with the school is the toxicity of the competitive culture within the school, although this can be partly attributed to the vitriol of the parents who attend it. Some efforts have been made to counter this in subjects like French, where students are simply given a letter grade, but in the core subjects a mark can often dictate how you are perceived by classmates.
In my experience, the girls at Hornsby are all very kind, at least in my grade. I, personally, have not heard any stories from students regarding bullying or drug use, but I understand that I could be in a social circle that is removed from that. The close friends I have made are quite possibly the highlight of my experience at Hornsby.
Overall, it is an excellent school, and I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone who is able to attend (:
